Sean Walsh

I live in Dublin, Ireland. Sometimes. Most times I live in my head, quite unaware of my surroundings – if you know what I mean… If you succeed in tracking Sean Walsh, please let me know, ok? I've been searching for him for years…

Catch Up

Published on Thursday 2nd November 2017 by Sean Walsh

Years ago when I worked in RTE as a Drama producer, a young and very shy Corkonian, Kieran Slyne, had just begun to work as a Sound Effects man in Studio 9. (Drama suite.)  I sensed his insecurity… softly, softly… we got on well…

Some time later he transferred to TV and we lost contact, went our different ways. He went on to become an ace camera man. Credits galore on-screen and off…

Only lately we made contact again – on Facebook. He had read some of my pieces and suggested recording a few, professionally. I was stunned…

Weeks passed – he is much in demand at RTE – then one day he messaged me to say he had a free Friday afternoon… He duly arrived at my home, unloaded his equipment from the back of the van, set up in the front room…

A few days later he posted my first two videos  on You Tube. I was blown away. I messaged my thanks and mentioned payment – straight up, no messing… Here’s his answer:

Hi, Sean.  I regard it as a privilege to spend a little time with you recording your powerful words. That is absolutely payment enough. When we are both free again I would be delighted to try a few more.

They are powerful pieces Sean and it’s a privilege to witness them.

There are a hundred views plus on the MacMaster Piece on my YouTube version.”

That was then, Spring, 2017. This is now, mid-Autumn, 2017. And now is:

697 views – and climbing…
