I live in Dublin, Ireland. Sometimes. Most times I live in my head, quite unaware of my surroundings – if you know what I mean… If you succeed in tracking Sean Walsh, please let me know, ok? I've been searching for him for years…
Lockdown turned out to be something of a blessing in disguise for me. Church building locked, ongoing: no Mass, no sacraments, no shared Word… I began to withdraw from the all too familiar… dwell instead on the concept of an ever present God.
I turned anew to Matthew 6.6 “… but you, when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who is unseen…” ‘began to scribble words, sentences… formulate ideas. Those few words of the Master contained riches aplenty… well worth the mining.
Took a while, mind. Draft after draft… But once I sensed I was on to something, I kept at it. And the title of the piece began to surface: HERE’S THE THING…
“Unseen. But there, nonetheless. Present. A presence… Now here’s a thing: social distancing does not cut ice with Jesus Christ. No. No way. He is having none of it… On the contrary, He says – Come to Me…
‘Came the day I was content enough with that final draft, clicked on Publish. You’ll find it here on my websiite… also on Facebook… ‘Caused a ripple or two? I’ll say…
‘Posted the text to Andrew Brown of Design for Writers who turned it into an eye-catching poster which I duly published on January 18. (Andrew designed this website for me several full moons ago. I’ve been posting on it, on and off, ever since…)
Do check, taste. Click to expand, to read in comfort… click again to expand to poster side if you so wish.
“Go into your room, close the door… It is only in quiet, in stillness, that the Spirit will stir in your soul… the Sacred Heart speak to your heart…”
